QSC and media[netCom] launch Cinema on Demand

Cologne/Marburg, October 26, 2000
A joint 'Cinema on Demand' project will be launched by QSC AG, a leading supplier of DSL-based broadband infrastructure in Germany, and media[netCom] from Marburg.

After extensive product testing has been completed, private households subscribing to an SDSL line from QSC will be able to access the central film server at media[netCom]. TV viewers can then download even full-length films of their choice at transmission speeds of up to 2 Mbps. By entering this new venture, Media[netCom] can extend its coverage with 'Cinema on Demand' far beyond the range it previously planned. QSC, for its part, is greatly enhancing the attractiveness of its broadband Internet access service.

At first, QSC and media[netCom] will offer 'Cinema on Demand' to households in Cologne and the surrounding area. QSC has already created a broadband network covering more than 30 German cities. In addition to 'Cinema on Demand', the network can also carry a variety of other digital television services available in the future.
