QSC boosts DSL line sales beyond market expectations

Cologne, January 22, 2001. QSC AG (QSCG), Germany's leading alternative provider of DSL-based broadband infrastructure, sold more than 9,000 broadband lines during the financial year 2000, exceeding expectations by a clear margin.

Having built the bulk of its network and equipped more than 800 central offices with DSL technology by the end of the fiscal year, the company has now passed the peak of its network investment pattern. QSC's network now covers 20 million potential local access users in 44 cities. As at December 31, 2000, cash on hand amounted to DM 575 million, which allows the company to execute its business plan and to reach the planned breakeven in 2003 without additional equity funding. Complete figures for the 2000 business year will be published on March 29.
