QSC AG supplies smart cloud-based control concept for Novoferm tormatic GmbH

Cologne, 4 August 2015. Novoferm tormatic GmbH, a leading provider of operator systems, is cooperating with QSC’s subsidiary Q-loud GmbH to implement a cloud-based smart gate operation solution. In future, the company will be integrating a communications module developed by Q-loud as a standard feature of its operator systems.

A special cloud module will be installed in the control unit of the gate operation system. Via the SOLUCON Gateway, this will send relevant data in encrypted form to the cloud.

This way, the appliance status, gate position, load change and switch commands, for example, can be transferred to the cloud platform. Novoferm tormatic can access this data to offer its customers innovative services such as app control, remote maintenance and optimised support within its comprehensive mobility concept. Furthermore, this technology makes it easy to link up facility and building automation systems.

“In Q-loud GmbH, we have gained a reliable partner to work together on implementing a new generation of innovative operator systems. For us, that marks a major step towards digitising our value creation”, comments Michael Glanz, Managing Director of Novoferm tormatic GmbH.

Frank Thelen, Managing Director of Q-loud GmbH, outlines the benefits of the cloud solution: “As the central intelligence location, the SOLUCON platform is always available. By drawing on the data about operator systems thereby integrated, our customer can use this interface to develop and market any number of services relating to smart gate and door operation.”

The SOLUCON cloud platform is operated exclusively and simultaneously at QSC’s proprietary data centres at three separate locations in Germany. This zero downtime architecture offers maximum protection against the risk of any system failure.
