Customer requirements

  • Future-proof the SAP ERP landscape through an SAP S/4HANA transformation project, making it easier to simplify and unify it.
  • Implementation of SAP eEWM for the customer's warehouse management.
  • Merging data sets into a unified database and contributing to a reduction in the complexity of business partner data.
  • Gradually transfer all CRM processes into the SAP C4C and SAP S/4HANA world via roadmap and target image.
  • Rebuilding the reporting process with the introduction of SAP Analytics Cloud.

Services within the project

  • Analysis of the initial situation, SAP Readiness Check and technical process workshops as a solid basis for the system landscape transformation with SAP S/4 HANA.
  • Agile SAP S/4HANA project with SAP Activate and additional performance modules of the q.beyond SAP S/4HANA Transformation Launchpad.
  • A customer-specific study identified tasks and conditions in the preliminary phase for establishing SAP S/4HANA as an ERP core system.

The project

From October 2021 to mid-June 2022, PARI, with the support of q.beyond, conducted a preliminary SAP S/4HANA study to analyze the current state of its existing SAP system landscape. Based on the SAP Readiness Check, custom code analysis, and accompanying business process workshops, the currently used functions, as well as existing extensions, add-ons, and system configurations, were analyzed and evaluated with regard to necessary conversion activities. Based on these results, a potential S/4HANA roadmap with a timeline and an initial effort estimate for its implementation were developed for PARI.

q.beyond carried out the SAP S/4HANA conversion project for PARI's SAP ERP on-premise system in partnership with PARI, based on SAP's "SAP Activate for System Conversions" methodology. The interdisciplinary team consisted of PARI, q.beyond, and other partners.

The challenge

The SAP S/4HANA transformation was implemented by an interdisciplinary projectorganisationconsisting of PARI, with locations in Germany, Mexico, and the USA, q.beyond, and other partners.
While the brownfield approach was applied to the areas of sales & services, logistics, production, maintenance, quality management, and finance & controlling, the replacement of SAP WM with an automated high-bay warehouse was carried out using a greenfield approach via an embedded Extended Warehouse Management solution, or eEWM for short.
At the same time, the reporting system was restructured, authorisations were redefined, and the use of new Fiori apps was enabled.

Project goals

  • Agile replacement of SAP CRM using SAP C4C and function transfer to SAP S/4 HANA by interdisciplinary project management teams.
  • The SAP S/4HANA transformation with all project partners should be implemented on time without affecting the ongoing operation of the legacy ERP systems.
  • Increased performance and efficiency through optimized data management, process adjustments and the introduction of SAP S/4HANA for greater innovation.
  • Establishing S/4HANA as a smart ERP system for "access" to new applications in selected areas and scalable growth.

The results

  • Interdisciplinary project teams with an absolute customer focus led to a successful SAP S/4HANA launch across all project phases.
  • Strategic alignment, operational excellence and project communication ensured a customer-centric go-live of SAP S/4HANA, on schedule and on time.
  • The implementation of the new inventory management system eEWM led to a greater degree of automation in warehousing at two company locations.
  • The selective Optimisation of sales and business processes generated greater productive efficiency in PARI's central business units.
