About Signal Iduna
SIGNAL IDUNA Life Insurance is part of SIGNAL IDUNA, one of Germany's largest insurance and financial services groups, headquartered in Dortmund and Hamburg. It combines decades of financial strength with a modern, future-oriented approach for private and corporate clients. The current group was formed in 1999 from the merger of SIGNAL Insurance and the IDUNA NOVA Group and serves over 5 million customers with more than 10,000 employees.
The project
For SIGNAL IDUNA Lebensversicherung a. G., q.beyond operates a fully redundant data center in Hamburg. The solution combines a highly secure colocation infrastructure with clearly defined operational and service processes, forming the basis for stable, audit-proof IT operations. Increasing regulatory requirements (BaFin, DORA, KRITIS), strict data protection obligations, and the need for a geographically distributed, multi-site architecture necessitated an infrastructure partner with insurance experience.
The solution includes a self-contained cage and redundant power and climate control systems. Additionally, q.beyond provides a central key-user service desk as a standardised access point for reporting malfunctions, service requests, and modifications, supported by a self-service portal. A comprehensive security concept with multi-layered fire and access control, video surveillance, and 24/7 security personnel protects business-critical systems and data.
The data center is a strategic prerequisite for ensuring business continuity, as the processing of highly sensitive data and strict regulatory requirements demand the highest availability, integrity, and resilience of IT systems. Clear communication channels, transparent reports, and regulated access processes form a highly available and resilient long-term foundation for SIGNAL IDUNA's IT strategy.
