What we have already implemented

Retail company aims to improve logistics management and customer experience using data

A Retail company with brick-and-mortar and online stores is struggling with rising customer expectations regarding delivery speed, transparency, and returns processing. Operational logistics are partially outsourced, and numerous manual interfaces exist between the shop, warehouse, shipping providers, and customer service. Customer data, order information, and delivery status are stored in disparate systems – a seamless view of the end-to-end process is lacking. Complaints about late or incomplete deliveries are increasing, while the repeat purchase rate in the online shop is declining.

The Value Creation Workshop brings together representatives from e-commerce, logistics, customer service, and data analytics. They examine the processes from four perspectives – including those of end customers and logistics partners. Based on this, they identify potential improvements and develop data-driven ideas: for example, ETA tracking for end customers, an internal early warning system for delivery delays, or dynamic returns management based on customer segments.

The ideas are evaluated, prioritised, and translated into a feasible implementation plan. Additionally, it is identified which data sources need to be standardised or newly developed to make the services technically viable.

Following the workshop, the company has a clear plan for how to improve delivery quality and enhance the customer experience in the online shop using data-driven measures – an important step towards a future-proof omnichannel strategy.

Car dealer develops data-driven services for customer retention and efficiency improvement

A car dealership with multiple locations wants to future-proof its business model. Vehicle sales margins are steadily declining, and the after-sales business is highly competitive. While a lot of customer data is already being collected – for example, through test drives, workshop visits, leasing contracts, or vehicle data from telematics systems – this data is rarely analyzed or utilized systematically. There is no clear plan for how to develop digital services from this data that will both increase customer value and make internal processes more efficient.

In the Value Creation Workshop, employees from sales, service, IT, and customer management jointly analyze existing data and processes – including from the perspectives of the end customer, the workshop, and the sales consultant. Based on this analysis, concrete ideas are developed: for example, a digital vehicle assistant with maintenance reminders, a data-driven upselling module for accessories during workshop visits, or an AI-supported predictive model for lease returns.

The ideas are evaluated, prioritised, and incorporated into a structured implementation roadmap. The workshop also identifies which data streams need to be standardised or expanded to implement these services.

After the workshop, the car dealer has concrete, customer-oriented innovation ideas – and knows exactly which data-based services he can use to stand out from the competition and open up additional sources of income in the long term.
